CEO/Founder

James Buniak is a controls engineer and founder of Automation Contractors LLC, where he blends creativity with precision in control system integration, UL508A panel building, and AI-powered solutions for industrial challenges. James channels his ADHD into a supercharged, problem-solving powerhouse, seeing patterns and connections others often miss. This creative edge makes him particularly adept at streamlining operations using Lean manufacturing and 5S methodologies, all while delivering systems that transform processes for clients in sectors like pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, and utilities.

James’s fascination with PLCs began with a seemingly impossible project: a substation battery monitoring system no one wanted to touch. Despite its complexity, he dived in headfirst, captivated by the challenge. It was there, in the wiring and programming, that he discovered a passion for automation, ultimately setting him on a path that would define his career.

Outside the world of engineering, James is a multi-instrumentalist, with a particular love for the violin. As a member of the band Terrible Orange Things, he honed his creative skills before taking on the role of a touring sound engineer for Anberlin. Music remains his source of inspiration, infusing his technical work with an artist's flair. Now, James is exploring the frontiers of AI, building platforms that aim to revolutionize industrial automation.

At home, James shares life and work with his wife Amanda, who plays an integral role at Automation Contractors LLC. Together, they manage a bustling family and bring a familial touch to their business, embodying a culture of passion and innovation. James’s journey from substation projects to AI platforms is a testament to his relentless drive, making him a standout in both automation and creative circles.
